BY JULIE BRANDON
I’m not a black or white kind of person
I prefer shades of blues and greens
Reds and yellows
Purples and oranges
Some days I see only black or white
When my pain is too great, or my thoughts are stuck, and I can’t be moved
And then it changes
Joy encompasses me
Buoys me up, lifts me above the anger, the sadness, the grief
Optimism returns if even for a moment
Bright enough to pull me through the dark days
Reminding me that changes can happen
It is then I see rainbows of possibilities
Of promises
Of hope
Of love
