BY ALI SHAH
I am Ali the son of Abi Talib
The son in law of the Holy Prophet
I am feared by the enemy, both near and far
My sword, Dhu al-Fiqar, fully gripped, double-edged
My armour of loyalty, iron-thick, shining silk
For none except God and his Prophet
I am Ali, the mighty warrior
My virtues fill the night sky like the glaring stars
My sword strikes like lightning before thunder.
I am Ali al-Murtada, the chosen one
To whom the Prophet gave the banner
“Man Kunto Maula, fa hazaa Ali-un Mawla”
To whom I am the master, Ali is the master
And whom the Prophet praised
“Ana Madinatul ilmi wa Aliyun Babuha”
I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate
And whom the Prophet embraced
“Ali minni wa ana minhu”
Ali is from me and I am from him
I am Asad’ullah, the lion of God
Whose bare hands plucked the gate of Khaybar
Even when outnumbered, I fought and triumphed.
Let Badr, Uhud and Khandaq be my witness.
I am Ali, commander of the faithful
The embodiment of bravery and resilience
The epitome of chivalry and Justice
Whose reign, met with the darkest of challenges,
Close up and at a distance, in the path of God
I am Mawla Ali, the warrior saint.
