BY LAWRENCE “MACK” HALL

Astride his horse, the gift-shop blisful martir

Raises his glov’ed hand in priestly blessing

For those who wear his token in evidence

Of a devout pilgrimage to Canterbury

By tour bus those who wolden ryde there

To seek a blessing (and a souvenir)

In brass Saint Thomas and his horse and groom

Forever stand; Saint Thomas seems to ask

“Sin you have seyn the paving wher I deyd –

Let now Iesu forever be your gyde”
